The HUNTER Unmanned Helicopter Is Back in the Sky

The HUNTER multi-functional helicopter-type unmanned system, developed by the 'Unmanned Helicopters' Design Bureau, demonstrates its capabilities during demonstration flights.

High-tech monitoring, protection of the state border and border infrastructure, targeting, reconnaissance, as well as autonomous and effective execution of other complex missions without endangering lives of a crew at any time of day or night — all of this makes the UAVHELI brand's product one of the most promising in its class.

The HUNTER was first presented to the general public at the MILEX-2021 International Exhibition in Minsk, and since has regularly become the center of attention at major exhibitions and industry forums.
With a take-off weight of 750 kg, the unmanned helicopter can carry up to 200 kg of payload, making it possible to accommodate a full suite of monitoring equipment on board: heavy gyro- stabilized optoelectronic long-range detection systems, thermal vision modules, laser rangefinders, on-board radar stations, five “day/night” panoramic cameras, a searchlight, a loudspeaker, as well as a suspended droppable rescue device.

Thanks to this configuration, the HUNTER system is capable to detect people, vehicles, and even camouflaged objects, and automatically assess and record their movement trajectories. The operator only needs to set the route — after which the helicopter autonomously flies around the designated perimeter, while incident data is transmitted to the operator's workplace in real time.

The system is controlled from a specialized Ground Control Station (GCS). While the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) performs its mission in the sky, its crew works in maximally comfortable conditions. The GCS module is equipped with autonomous climate control systems (heating and air conditioning) for year-round operation, as well as a utility compartment fitted with necessary appliances, including a coffee machine and a refrigerator. This allows operators to maintain high concentration and effectively perform their tasks during multi-hour shifts.

The presence of four automated workplaces in the GCS — which elevates the UAV from the category of a standalone drone to a full-fledged system — enables operators to simultaneously control two HUNTER helicopters. Controlling two aircraft simultaneously ensures uninterrupted monitoring: while one helicopter returns to base for refueling, the second one takes over duty in the target area. In addition, the aircraft can operate in a combat formation, covering a border strip of double width. Communication between the GCS and both UAVs is maintained via directional encrypted digital links resistant to electronic warfare (EW) countermeasures.
Full-fledged system operation is supported by a special Ground Support Vehicle (GSV). It includes three compartments: a ground power supply unit with a powerful gasoline generator, a refueling station with an 800-liter gasoline tank, and a mobile workshop with comfortable workstations for two technicians.

Possessing huge modernization potential, the HUNTER multi-functional unmanned system can flexibly adapt to the widest range of customer requirements and offers the market a ready-made solution for ensuring security in the face of modern challenges.
