The “Unmanned Helicopters” Design Bureau has begun implementing a new and unique project to develop an unmanned helicopter with a maximum takeoff weight of 750 kg — “Eagle”

The “Unmanned Helicopters” Design Bureau has begun implementing a new and unique project to develop an unmanned helicopter with a maximum takeoff weight of 750 kg — “Eagle”.

The “Eagle” unmanned helicopter project is based on the principle of maximum unification commonality with already proven serial units of the unmanned aerial complex “Hunter”.

- Such an engineering strategy is aimed at reducing risks by using proven components. Unification with “Hunter” makes it possible to shorten the development cycle and ensure high-quality technical maintenance, — said Vladimir Chudakov, Chief Designer of the “Unmanned Helicopters” Design Bureau.

- The project launch took place in December 2025. The product is being developed as part of expanding the line of professional unmanned aerial systems capable of handling the most complex transport and monitoring tasks, — he added.

The “Eagle” unmanned helicopter is intended to perform cargo, surveillance, and rescue operations at remote and hard-to-reach facilities, including offshore oil and gas platforms. The system design enables around-the-clock operation at unprepared sites, ensuring high reliability and fail-safety during operation in extreme climatic conditions.

The company’s proprietary turboshaft engine “KB-150” and the availability of its own electronic digital engine control system (FADEC) indicate a high level of technological independence and reliability.

The maximum flight duration of the unmanned helicopter is 4 hours, and the speed is 190 km/h.

Aerodynamic characteristics and a modern powerplant ensure flight stability and the ability to carry out missions under conditions of intensive operation.

As part of the enhanced capabilities of “Eagle,” integration of a detachable, dropable payload in the form of a rescue raft is provided. This expands the unmanned aerial vehicle’s capabilities and enables prompt execution of evacuation and rescue operations.

“The main advantage of using this machine will be achieved through the absence of risks to the crew and by reducing the cost of a flight hour when performing routine transport tasks. In today’s reality, maritime transportation remains costly, and the introduction of the ‘Eagle’ UAV will allow operators to significantly optimize their operating expenses,” Vladimir Chudakov emphasized.

The presentation of the finished “Eagle” unmanned helicopter is planned for 2026.
